Reflections on the Consumer Correction: June Gloom

When Mark Twain notoriously proclaimed “the coldest Winter I ever spent was Summer in San Francisco,” he just might have been referring to the blustery market conditions around us. From Blue Bottle to Barry’s, it seems like one can’t escape discussions of the downturn. As an eternal optimist, I do feel a bit bad piling on the bad news bandwagon. Yet, I continue to believe that contextualizing both where we are and what these data points might suggest about where we’re headed is important. You just might need to refill your red ink cartridge when you’re finished with this one…
